Catheter Management for Personal Care Workers
Urinary catheters are medical devices used to drain urine from the bladder when a person is unable to do so naturally. These devices are often used in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, and home care, for individuals with conditions such as urinary retention, incontinence, or during surgical procedures.
This course is designed to provide personal care workers with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective catheter management. Participants will learn the fundamentals of catheter types, insertion techniques, care and maintenance, infection prevention, and patient communication. Through a combination of theoretical learning, practical demonstrations, and case studies, participants will develop the competence and confidence to provide safe and compassionate catheter care.
Priority Health Care Training offers this course regularly.
